This annual, very arduous event takes place in the high Pyrenees. Weather conditions, even in July, can be very difficult. In 2013 the event had to be curtailed due to snow, and last year the weather could best be described as miserable! However if you would like a challenge, are fit for arduous mountain walking and would like to take part then please contact the organisers via the website. Please note that the organisers now insist that all participants bring with them:
- Proof of Travel insurance that covers mountain walking.
- A Doctors Certificate stating that you are fit enough for a four-day, non-competitive mountain trek going up to heights of 8,500 feet.
- Full details of your next of kin. Failure to produce these is likely to result in your exclusion from the event! This event is run by the Chemin association and not by ELMS. To participate you must contact the organisers directly, and details are on their website. Paul Williams, who livies and works in the area is the main contact for those in terested. Most of those travelling from the UK and the USA will travel out on the 4th July and return on the 11th of July. A coach will meet the following EASYJET flight from LONDON GATWICK on Tues 4th July Flight EZY 8333. Dep: Gatwick 08.25 hrs. Arr**:** Toulouse Blagnac 11.05 hrs. There will also be a coach to take walkers back to Toulouse Blagnac on Tues 11th July in time to catch Flight EZY 8336 Dep Toulouse Blagnac 1515hrs. Arr Gatwick 1610hrs. Coach return to Toulouse. The cost, per person, for the four-day walk (6th–9th) is 130 euros plus 20 euros fee to join the Association/Not For Profit Organisation that runs and organises the trek. Cost of Accommodation before and after the trek will be approx 50 Euros per person per night for evening meal, bed and breakfast. Four nights maximum at Parc de Palétès will cost 200 euros per head. Airport transfers from and to Toulouse. Approximately 60 euros. It will depend on actual numbers using the coach.
