About the Walk

This is a tutorial walk following the routes taken by Henriette Hanotte, a guide on the Comete Line. Early in the war, she first guided French soldiers and others who wished to cross the border at Rumes.

In 1943, under the wartime name of first “Mary” and later “Monique”, she passed 50 airmen through Bachy and 45 via Hertain. To this day she still keeps the notebook containing the names and photos of all her charges.
